Freddie's friends and familly

Freddie only let a small group of people into his life, but when they got there, Freddie never let them go, if hi did not have to..

This picture shows Freddies closest circle of friends, those who were (almost everyone) living in Garden Lodge.

<<< From the left we first have Peter Freestone, ( not really seen in this pic with a shirt that has alot of flowers on it) Jim Hutton in white, Freddie Mercury, in yellow suite Jim Beach's wife, Mary Austin in black and Peter Straker, also wearing black. From the left sitting are Joe Fanelli and Jim Beach.

Jim Hutton ~ The love of his life

Jim Hutton - A barber from Soho, London. Freddie tried to pick him up in a bar but was denied. Since that Freddie would not take no for an answer.

Freddie brought Jim to his parties and dinners and one night, one thing led to another. Jim then thought that it was just a one-night stand but Freddie wanted more. He became Freddies boyfriend and their relationship lasted until Freddies death.

There was parts in their relationship that he did not treat Jim right, using him as a toy to make a man called Winnie yellous and had him flown over to germany and back the same day if he was finnished with him. But when things seattled in Freddies life so did their relationship and Freddie abanded his promiscuous lifestile and seattled down in his 4 million pound mansion in London, with Jim.

When Freddie foud out that he was suffering from AIDS he told Jim: " I  have full-blown AIDS. I understand if you want to leave" Jim then said: " Freddie, I love you. I'm not going to leave you." And he did not. Jim was by his side when Freddie died.

Jim Hutton sadly died 1 January in 2010 from a form of lung cancer. He had then been living with HIV for over 20 years.

Winnie Kirchberger

Winnie Kirchberger - A resturanteur from Munich and a friend of Barbara Valentine. Freddies first kind of normal relationship with another man. He even lived with him for a period of time. He felt safe around him.

But it was a stormy relationship with alot of fights and arguments. Freddie spoke very little German and Winnie barely spoke any English at all, so they used guestures to be able to comunicate.

Winnie sadly died in the early 90's by the cause of AIDS.

Peter Straker

Peter Straker and Freddie Mercury were like best friends for a very long time.

Peter also sang for a living, but he was acting to. They made several recordings, Peter and Freddie. They just had loads of fun. He was the one that made Freddie laugh but towards the end their relationship was not that tight anymore.

Freddie produced Strakers cd called "This one's on me" and he also does some backing vocals. Straker is still alive and not ill; as far as I know.

In the pic from the left: Peter Straker and Joe Fanelli

Mary Austin

Mary Austin met Freddie in 1970 and became a couple, and their relationship lasted about seven years.
Mary was one of the first persons Freddie reviled his homosexuality to and was the thing with made them brake up.
