Freddie Mercury  ~  VIP-Guest Tonight

Hi was born on the isle of Zanzibar on the 5 september 1946 as Farrokh Bulsara. His parents, Bomi and Jer Bulsara, were bouth Persian. His father was working as a High Court cashier for the British Government. That alowed him and his baby sister Kashmira, born 1952, to live his early childhood in luxury in his parents' mansion in Bombay. In 1954 Freddie was send to St Peters English Boarding School in Panchgani, located 50 miles outside Bombay. There his friends started to call him Freddie which his familly soon adopted.

At St Peters he became very good at sports. At the age of ten he became a school champion in table tennis and at the age of twelve he was awarded the school trophy for Junior All-rounder. Freddie also had a large interrest for art and music. He used to draw pictures for friends and familly. The headmaster noticed Freddies talant in music and asked Freddies parents if they wanted to pay a little extra for Freddies music education. When they agreed Freddie began to learn to play the piano. He was so talanted and worked really hard to finally achieve grade IV in both in practical and theory.

In 1958 Freddie and four of his friends at the school formed a rock'n roll band called The Hectics were Freddie were playing the piano.

Freddie returned to his familly when he was 16 after finishing his studies in St Peters. In 1964 many people left Zanzibar due to political unrest and so did the Bulsaras. They migrated to England and the familly then moved into a semi-detatched hous in Feltham, Middlesex. Freddie then attended Isleworth just to gain one A-level in art so he could attend another collage, Ealing Collage of Art. In 1966 Freddie began his studies in Ealing.

In 1970, after being in alot of bands, Freddie had formed his own rock group, and he called themselfs "Queen". He also changed his name to Mercury.

He met Mary Austin in 1970 and they lived together for seven years. John Decon joined the group in 1971 and Queen flew to Japan on a big tour in 1975. At this point Freddie had long black hair, black nail polish and leotards. In 1982 Freddie changed his image. He cut his hair and grew a moustache. His fans then began to send him nail polish and razor blades...

It was also in the late 1982 that Queen decided to take a brake for a while. Then Freddie started on his so long timed longed solo project. He booked Musicland studios in Munich and in 1983 Freddie met German porn actress Barbara Valentine. Some people say that they were in love. It was through Barbara that Freddie met Winnie Kirchberger. They had a very stormy relationship from 83-85 and he even lived with him under a period of time. But everything changed so quickly when Freddie heared of AIDS and he left both Winnie and Barbara without saying anything and flew back to London where he hook up with his Gardnen, Jim Hutton.

It was in 1987 that he first found out that he was suffering from AIDS and at that point he stopped all his wild nights out and almost stopped having sex saying: "I'm no spring chicken, am I? (haha) " and "I have stopped all that, I've stopped having sex and grow Tulips instead. (ha)"

Freddie wasn't open about his sexuallity presumably because he was ashamed that he was gay since the way he was brought up and as a follower of the zorastrian faith it was strictly forbidden and wrong being gay. Probaly also because the record companies did not want him to come out about it cause they considered that it would not sell that good if he did.

On July 13 in 1985 Queen performed on Live Aid. Freddie; had newly left Munich behind, had a new boyfriend standing behind the stage sheering for him and the crowd acting like crazy when Freddie entered the stage it was not strange that everybody afterwords said that Queen totally stole the show!

In 1987 Freddie met opera diva Montserrat Caballé and he wrote seven operaticly inpired songs and he and Montserrat made an album they called Barcelona. Never before had anything like that been done and people started to call it rock opera, an expression that Freddie was not very keen on.

October 8th 1988 was the last time Freddie performed in his life and at that time he was very ill. It was at the huge open air La Nit festival in Barcelona with Mike Moran on the piano.

"These are the days of our life" was the last video he ever made. It was shot in black and white and you can see a very ill Freddie just fighting to make this video. In the last part of the video, Freddie looks straight into the camera and says in a whisper: "I still love you"

Towards the end of his life he was haunted by the press after a jerk, one of Freddies ex-friends, had given a really jucy story, telling all about his lovers, the drugs and personal life, to the press! He said that he needed the money..
Freddie never spoke to him again.

One week before he died he stopped all the medication, taking nothing but the painkillers.

Freddie Mercury died peacfully in his bed by seven o'clock a sunday morning on November 24th in 1991.

We will always love you, Freddie Mercury!
